From the Desk of Fr. Peter
My Friends: I am on vacation and will be returning on Sunday evening, July 20th. Know that you are in my prayers. In the meantime... ...I wanted to take the opportunity this week to welcome to our rectory and parish, Nicholas Bellotti. Nicholas is a seminarian of the Newark Archdiocese. Nicholas is coming to us from the North American College in Rome, as did now Fr. John Barno and soon to be Deacon Roberto Ortiz. He will be with us until the end of August, assisting us in ministry. I know I can count on you to welcome him with open arms. ...The Parish Feast is less than two months away. Please see the insert and as good stewards - sign up to help volunteer. And as always, let's pray together and continuously for another great year of devotions, crowds, and PERFECT WEATHER before during and after our Feast. We count heavily on the income from the Feast to help get us to Christmas. Please continue to be good stewards of TIME, TALENT & TREASURE.... ...I am working on bids for the school windows. They are in need of replacement. The bids are going to cost near $100,000.00. Yes - approximately one-hundred thousand dollars. We are responsible for the "envelope" of the building, as the landlord. They were to be replaced before I arrived. Time has gotten by us and we can wait no longer. ... On another note, there is the church ceiling. I have met with the representatives from the Archdiocesan Property Management, Security and Liturgy. The ceiling needs to be done as well. I will keep you posted. I am writing to the Archbishop for the proper permissions. ...May I ask that again we consider our FAITH GIVING? Unless you can only afford to place one dollar ($1.00) into the collection, and are doing it from your heart, then so be it - whether in the envelope system or in cash. However, when we consider the cost of living and what one dollar can buy in these times, then please, I must challenge you to prayerfully consider your offering and increase it accordingly. That gives us fourteen and a half cents a day for the week. Please - do the best you can. God does provide. ...If someone is in need of prayers and the family wants them placed onto the list for prayer in the bulletin, then they must call the office in advance. We are gong to edit the current prayer list. If a name is inadvertently removed, DO NOT PANIC or BECOME UPSET - merely call into the office and they will be added. Oftentimes names stay on after the person is well or unfortunately - deceased. ...We will be celebrating Mass of the Assumption and Blessing of the water on Friday, August 15th at 7:00pm at Dahnert's Park. This will be sponsored by the Rosary Society. Keep your eyes open for more information. ...I want to take this opportunity to both welcome and thank Jennie Ann Arthur who will assume her role as part of our Funeral Ministry Team. Jennie Ann joins Pat Nunno. Remember the Beatitudes, "Blessed are those who mourn; they shall be comforted." This is at the core of our ministry as we assist bereaved families to plan the funeral liturgy of their loved ones. Stay well and enjoy these months of rest and relaxation. Let's remember each other in daily prayer. Loving you always, Fr. Peter
From Fr. Bismark Thank You!! Grazie!! Gracias!! I would like to thank all of the parishioners who made my welcoming receptions possible. Thanks to all of the members of Parish Life, and to all of you who baked or donated all of the delicious goodies to share, as we met each other. It was very nice to have met you all, my new family! I hope that as time passes by we may have other opportunities to share and grow closer in the Lord. In Christ's love, Fr. Bismark
